New Jigs
skookumchuck CHROME
Went down the the skookumchuck friday morning in search for silvers... drifting a pink and white rabbit hair jig with a stinger hook (New pattern) I drifted the far bank for about thirty casts then decided to throw to the close bank... about the time my bobber made it to my feet on the second drift it was bobber down, this 12lb buck put up a great fight especially on an xmg50 light 4-8lb and 8lb test, and he made a great dinner also

sol duc natives
went out to the sol duc with guide Greg Springer. on the river about 9:30 and right off the bat my girlfriend and I lose one. Now that the ice had been broken we could get to fishing. about 300yds later in the drift carissa picked up this nice 14lb chrome native hen, then an then an 8. Me, having nothing in the boat finally got into a good hole and got two back to back. The first a 12lb native (shown above) and the second around 7 or 8. Awesome trip, I definately reccomend this guide you can search him on facebook under Springer sportfishing.

Winter runs
have been down to the green a number of times this season first time out to metzler park got a solid td on one of my 1/4 oz jigs three feet under a cork float... Needless to say he hit right as i was mending my line and of course missed the strike. Steelhead coming out of the upper green are average at best with hatcheries around 6-8 lbs which was also what soos creek hatchery had to say about it, now as of currently the river is SCREWED, the water level is high, dark, and fast.
so basically you cant fish it, plus they are force closing the green and puyallup january 16th, maybe if the rain can hold back for a week or so the coastal rivers can get back to normal and keep producing record fish. Whenever that day may come im eading out to the sol duc
